Fun..according to my training program I need to do a "sandwhich" session today. Run\Bike\Run.

Will use the foot pod this morning and see what happens on run number 1, which should be 1:20 but making it 1 hr. Then an hour on the bike followed by a 40min run. I hope my legs hold on after yesterday!!

Wow, congrats on the PR in your 10K run, Robin! :-)

59:54. A bit slower than last year but I'm happy with it as it's my first 10k of the year.

Hmm, signing up for Wednesday (I saw that and knew we'd be doing it this week :) any idea on if Randy will be stopping on by?)

I believe Randy may show up at CFR on Tuesday.

I'm excited some of you are doing the 10K run today! AngDesj and I are meeting at 4:00 to run outside together if anyone is interested in joining us!

Meet us in the West end at Ritter Ave and Dorothy St. parking lot at the creek.

From McCarthy go west on Mikkleson Dr and South on Dorothy St to Ritter Ave.

Finished Daniel in 31:45 and those thrusters were hard. Watched Paul and RHM finish the filthy 50 and then watched Chris do a 21-15-9 of 95lb squat cleans and ring dips.

Everyone worked their ass off. Good times.

Oh yeah, I totally hit the wall during the Filthy 50. I don't know how I finished.

Then watched young Chris do Elizabeth for the first time in only 14 minutes, throw up, and then immediately run out the door and do a timed 1k. Wow.

To be 18 again...

"To be 18 again" right, Paul? I think we can all say we wished we had learned about how to train effectively sooner. If only I had been able to start CrossFit training when I was a teenager! Now the young people that come to CFR may not realize how truly good they have it, to get to start early on in life. There will be no shortage of us older folk envious of these young CF'ers with the best opportunity to start and look forward to seeing where they get to in a few short years.
Good job, Chris! Elizabeth is a harsh girl. It's easy to get a crush on her while she's crushing you!

Aaron, we had a similar conversation while he was working out. The thing that struck me, that always strikes me with younger crossfitters, is how much more quickly they learn the movements. I showed Chris the clean once and after only three reps, his technique was awesome.

This is more evidence that we need to get kids into the gym when they're young. The younger the better.

Do you remember our conversation during the kids' class about squatting? Some of the best squatters in my PE classes were in my grade 1-3 group. Why? Because squatting is a natural human movement and they haven't had time to unlearn it like the rest of us have.

Yeah, I agree 100%. Kids who get an early start on functional fitness will have so many advantages as they grow up.

My goal was under an hour and I did it! Our route even had some hills. Thanks for running with me, AngDesj, and pushing me. We ran 5K in 28:45, walked for one minute, and ran our second 5K faster. Thanks for running "with" us Jason, we tried to keep you in sight! Thanks to Gloria and Brian for coming to the finish line, and Happy Anniversary by the way! That was great, one of my top 5 goals for 2009. Checkmark!

Robin, your first 10km ever!!! That time is sick, lol.

This girl has heart, I know because I heard it in her throat the whole time, lol! I am amazed at your time with the virtually no running in your training, truly awesome!

I wish my son would get off the couch and start getting active. He and his friends really don't do all that much and he's starting to get a belly at 18! Sigh, I need to change tactics with him because he's just stubborn.

I'm with Paul - I would have loved it if I found this much earlier in life. That 5 minute recovery time is something to behold - eh Tyler? ;-)

Shout out to Franz for making me push it harder than I normally would and for pointing out a big flaw in how I was doing thrusters.

Daaaaang, Tiff, that's just, well, daaaang... Glad you're running with us for the QCM relay!

Robin, great job on your first 10k!

Tiff (newbie) said...

Sending out some well-deserved props...

Thank-you Leya! Now if I had even a fraction of your muscular strength then I would all around be good to go :)

Way to go Robin! That is an amazing 10 k time...especially it being your first?!?! Very impressive!

Kurt, you need to bring your boy to the gym to meet all the hot girls.

He'll figure the rest out himself.
